Lumecca IPL Laser

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

To ensure the best results from your Lumecca IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Laser treatment, please follow these pre-treatment guidelines:

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning (including self-tanners) for 2 weeks before your treatment to minimize the risk of pigmentation issues. Please let your provider know if you have traveled or plan to travel soon after or before treatment. This may be a contraindication to treatment timing.

  • Discontinue the use of any exfoliants, retinoids, and AHAs/BHAs (such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid) for 5-7 days prior to your treatment to avoid irritation.

  • Avoid waxing or plucking the treatment area for at least 2 weeks before the treatment. Shaving is acceptable.

  • Do not apply any active skincare ingredients (e.g., retinol, vitamin C) to the treatment area 2-3 days prior to your session.

  • Avoid recent chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or other laser treatments for at least 2 weeks before your IPL session.

  • Arrive with clean skin—no makeup, lotions, or sunscreen on the treatment area.

  • If you are pregnant or have certain medical conditions, please inform your provider before undergoing treatment.

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

After your Lumecca IPL Laser treatment, following proper aftercare is essential for optimal results and healing:

  • Avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks post-treatment. Always use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ or higher when outdoors to protect the treated skin. We recommend ZO’s Medical grade sunscreen.

  • Do not use harsh exfoliants or active ingredients (such as AHAs, BHAs, or retinoids) on the treated area for 5-7 days.

  • Avoid hot showers, saunas, and intense workouts for 24-48 hours after your treatment to reduce the risk of irritation or swelling.

  • Do not pick or scratch any crusting or scabs that may form on the treated area. Let the skin heal naturally.

  • Mild redness, swelling, and warmth in the treated area is normal and should subside within 24-48 hours.

  • Pigmentation changes: Your skin may initially appear darker in areas of pigmentation, but these dark spots will gradually fade and flake off within 1-2 weeks.

  • Apply a gentle moisturizer and hydrating skincare to help soothe and repair the skin.

  • Avoid makeup for 24 hours post-treatment to allow the skin to breathe. After that, you may resume normal makeup use, but ensure that it is clean and non-irritating.

  • You may need a series of treatments to achieve the best results for specific concerns such as pigmentation, sun damage, or vascular issues. Treatments are typically spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

Note: IPL treatments like Lumecca work by targeting pigmentation and vascular issues. As your skin heals, you may notice more even skin tone, reduced redness, and clearer complexion.
